The Top Uses of Eucalyptus Oil

Eucalyptus OilEucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus) originates from Australia where it has been distilled since the mid 1800s. The first published work on it’s special antiseptic and antibacterial properties was in the 1870s. Historically it has been prescribed for respiratory system conditions such as bronchitis, ‘flu, asthma and coughs.

At Jersey Lavender we have about 150 eucalyptus trees, copiced short, and each June before the lavender is ready we cut the young leaves and steam distill out the oil. It’s powerful stuff! Most is sold as the pure oil for home remedies, however it is used as a fragrance ingredient in almost all our products as well.

Now that Autumn is upon us those coughs and colds will start to appear and our eucalyptus oil can help relieve those nasty symptoms.
